GPVC 2021 Global Photovoltaic Conference 2021 (GPVC 2021) Hybrid Conference On-site and On-line July 7 (Wed) - 9 (Fri), 2021 Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju, Korea

Gwangju Sightseeing Information

1. Jeonil Building 245

Formally used as an office building of the Jeonnam Ilbo regional newspaper, the building was designated as a historical site in 2017 as a result of confirmation of the building having been fired upon from a helicopter during the May 18 Democratic Uprising in 1980. The Namdo Tourism Center can also be found in the Jeonil Building 245 – so named for the 245 bullet holes left in the building – which provides useful services to tourists, including Gwangju 360, Namdo virtual reality tours, an art market, and a “make my own travel course” service. In particular, from Jeonil Maru, the building’s rooftop park, visitors can enjoy views of two Gwangju landmarks – the Main Building of Chosun University, along with Mudeung Mountain. You may also enjoy a drink from Café 245 here, too.

The site has also become a must-visit spot in particular for K-pop fans, as through the use of augmented reality, visitors are able to meet their favorite stars.
