This place is the home of a branded performance, and has become one of Gwangju’s main sites for culture and art tourism. A variety of genres are featured here, including creative and fusion gugak, as well as traditional gukak, samul nori, and Korean traditional dance. As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the center is now offering live online broadcasts of its performances via the official YouTube channel of the Gwangju Culture and Arts Center.

Yangnim-dong is a village filled with historically significant architecture, where visitors can find several culture and art museums, as well as a number of buildings with modern and contemporary designs. Surrounded by towering trees that are more than 100 years old, the area has also gained the nicknames of “Jerusalem in Gwangju” and “the Western Style Village in Gwangju” as a result of missionaries having built a church, school and hospital in the area during the time of Japanese rule. The religious and cultural heritage of the area can still be found in the narrow side-alleys, while the Korean traditional houses of Lee Jang-woo and Choi Seung-hyo also line the village’s folk street.
